A Nectarine original mixed media painting by Polly Jones

Nectarine by Polly Jones
This is 4" square.  I wanted to push the texture and color in this small space.  I've been having a hard time getting back into a routine in the studio since our trip.  I've been massively reorganizing around the house, though. I'm trying to go by the advice to cull out that which is not useful or beautiful.  Ha, turns out I have a big imagination about how something could be useful in the future and a wide range of what I think is beautiful.

Sold.

Does it bring a smile to your face to know that I am lifting my laptop close to these old eyes and twisting it this way and that to see the mixed in media? Or should I not be wondering about it? The hammer and sickle for instance. Love the game of figuring out if there are secret messages in your work or random recyclables.

Oh dear, I had somehow not seen this comment in order to publish it. I LOVE that you really looked at it Kathleen! The hammer and sickle were from my really old map book. This little bit was first chosen for it's color and then I had fun with how much can be packed into a tiny little symbol. My husband's comment was "Nectarines of the world unite."
