Thinking Fish original still life painting by Polly Jones

Thinking Fish by Polly Jones
It's been a while since I painted my fish. I can't believe how long I've had this one. Her companion didn't last long. They were 25 cent feeder fish destined to a short life. 8" by 8" acrylic mixed media on canvas.

Winter Pink with Pears, by Polly Jones
My husband and I visited a fabulous show at The Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth, Texas to see the exhibit "Monet-The Early Years." It was so exciting and inspiring...and also pretty crowded. I came back and finished the above painting with a renewed sense of commitment to pay attention to the surface quality of my paintings and not over working the paint. Winter Pink with Pear is breaking some design rules about putting circles in the middle, cutting edges off and isolating colors but I think it works. Sometimes you have to break the rules.

These are available in my Etsy store here.

Hope your new year is off to a fabulous start! I am starting out a little slow, feeling performance anxiety with my art because of some of my high hopes for challenging myself more. The top two are from 2016. I counted up on my website and figure I've painted 104 paintings this past year - which is a personal record. A lot of those were small. My intention is to work larger more often in the coming year. If you want to see the group from 2016 you may find them on my website here:  Polly Jones Art

I am so grateful to be able to spend my time painting. I can't thank you enough in how you support my work by just being interested in it and also buying my art to actually put in your home!
