Polyphonic, new mixed media large painting

The top one is the new version. Had it on the dining room wall and after reworking it in my head night after night, I decided I wanted to do what Matisse did in his painting. My favorite part of his piece is the black with the fern fronds pattern. I ended up changing my background by using black and adding a lot more collage throughout. I found that the papers gave it a crispness in areas that I was craving and couldn't get with just paint. The collage looks integrated in the photo, but if you click to enlarge the photo you can see more bits and pieces of paper in the paint.

I love the difference the black background has made. Thank you for the inspiration to keep on trying to paint!

I love this! I was just thinking about how I hadn't seen a post recently and was going to check out your blog but as soon as I logged in there you were in my updates! I think about your artwork all the time. You have inspired me to paint glass, which I don't think I have ever done! At some point in my life I will own an original Polly Jones!

Thanks Kerry, I thought I might get comments that I should have left it alone. I'm excited you are going back to painting. It's pretty addictive once you get going, isn't it?

Amber, I have been a lousy blogger lately, so I appreciate you keeping track of my work in spite of my lazy ways. I especially want to thank you for saying my work has inspired you! I can't tell you how great that makes me feel! You have lovely work.

I love these highly complex paintings that you do...yes, I can see the paper and it works so nicely in the painting!

I love everything you've painted lately! This one is beautiful and I agree; the new, revised version is striking.
